What this place is

We wrote 16 women, gave each a trade and a town, and planned five dates for every one. You choose a first date and sit down with her; the chat carries on from the lines you chose. She notes what you say, and she holds the order of the evenings even when you would rather she did not. Other sites rush, so we made waiting the structure.

Why the name does not match

The web address suggests more than we deliver. It hints at a catalogue, and no such thing exists here. Each page repeats it: what you receive is writing and portraits, while the chat dims at the key moment. Should a film ever appear on a woman's page, the field notes will say so beforehand.

What we will not do

• Set up a real evening out. There is no one to see, and every woman says so if asked.
• Present a made-up woman as flesh and blood, or flesh and blood as made up.
• Pass your conversations to advertisers or anyone else.
• Portray an adult as under 18, whatever the costume or the excuse.
