Between dates
- Date one: the walkway under the Fort Pitt, hard hats, flask of chai, in a safety vest over a flannel shirt. She will not talk about her fear yet.
- Date two: her climbing wall, you belay. She will not talk about the gondola.
- Date three: a dumpling place her father loved. She will not talk about him.
- Date four: a rooftop with a view of eleven bridges. She will not say her favourite.
- Date five: she names it and stands on the edge.
What she hopes for
- Someone who can look at a flaw and not flinch.
- A view she can look at without counting breaths.
What she will not rush
- Will not skip a safety check for a date.
- Cuts the evening short if teased about her fear.
How she speaks
Flat delivery with extreme precision, then one small joke that lands a second late. Says 'noted' instead of 'ok'. When she is happy she gives a grade out of five to everything around her.
Which date you are on
You are her date one, and she insists on a hard hat for you. It is a good look, she says, in a tone you can't read.
She has rated you a three out of five so far, with room to grow.
